Closing on your home during a flood. What now?

Due to recent flooding throughout Harris & Ft. Bend County each area have been declared a “disaster zone.”

The implications on your home loan and closing will be effected regardless who your lender is or what type of loan you have. The home will have to be reinspected by the appraiser to ensure the property did not flood.

There is a very real possibility that if you were scheduled to close this week that you will experience a delay.

Home sellers should update their sellers disclosure to disclose any property damage caused by the recent weather events.

It is important that if you’re buying a home and scheduled to close “this week” that you perform a second walk-thru to ensure there wasn’t any damage before you close.
